garbage pure and simple
Do not buy this item. I bought it so I could transfer files from my digital camera directly to my laptop without using the data cable that came with the camera.

doesn’t work at usb2
Tried it with OSX 10.4, XP and Linux and it didn’t seem to work. Only way I’ve gotten anything so far is with Linux forcing it to be USB1.1
it should just plug in and work.
